I gathered that from reading the responses. The alignment thing I'll have to research more, but everything else was fine and mostly up-to-date since it's all newer. I tried something I read in a thread about reducing the number of resources available to the VM, so I cut #cores from 4 to 2, and memory from 16GB down to 8GB (there was very little overlap with the other VM as it was, but this reduced it to zero). Speed INSTANTLY increased across the board, and holds constant. This is something I'll have to research as well.
